After my blog the other day, I had a bit of a breakdown and cried out to God. He had been so faithful, but there was still so so much that needed to happen and I was starting to get discouraged. I prayed that He would show us the next thing and let something happen to show that we were still in His will and that He was still working. Within the hour, I got a phone call from someone wanting to look at the house. Shortly there after I got an email from someone else wanting to look at the house. I made appointments for both of them and they came to see it on Tuesday. Before they came though, we prayed. I felt a prompting to pray for one more so than the other, so my mom and I prayed together. Both of them liked our place, but the one I had prayed for didn't seem as excited.
We've had a lot of phone calls, emails, and appointments that never showed up. One thing I have prayed consistently is that God would make it so that the people who were not supposed to live here would stay away. I prayed that they would not show up or not turn in the application, whatever it meant so that we weren't going through an application process with multiple people who weren't supposed to live here.
The first couple that came to see it told me flat out that they didn't have credit or money. But they took an application anyway and I was praying they would not turn it in. The second couple (the one I felt prompted to pray about) also took an application, but said they had 2 other places to look so they would let us know. It was no more than 30 minutes later that I got a phone call from couple #2. They had filled out the application and were on their way over to drop it off. They paid the application fee that night, I ran the check on Wednesday, and I'll be mailing their lease agreement tomorrow and working out the arrangements for the security deposit today, hopefully.
God really came through, and so quickly! But that wasn't all. My cat, Oliver, has lived with my grandmother for the last 2 years. I LOVE this cat, but we just didn't have room (among other things). She randomly decided to sell her house of 50+ years and move closer to my mom and told us that she wouldn't be able to take the cat. Sad news is, because the homeowner at our new house didn't want pets, there was a $350 non-refundable pet fee for service dogs only. I contacted the property manager anyway with our request to have Oliver and she immediately replied that she would ask the homeowner but doubtful. So I called mom and we prayed again. The next time I checked my email, I had a response from the property manager. She had prayed for us to. Not only did the homeowner say yes, but also that she would negotiate the deposit and make it refundable. So then, I started praying that the $350 would come. On Wednesday I got a call from my grandmother. She had come into some extra money and said she was sending us the money for the deposit so that we could take Oliver to Orlando with us!!
Still not convinced that God truly cares for His children? Well then, we've also been trying to sell Kris's broken junk car. Our asking price was $500 because we did our research and knew that a junker could get at least that amount out of it, probably more, but that someone who knew how to fix cars could get the car for cheap, save a ton on labor, and still end up with a working vehicle for less than $1000. Unfortunately though, no one would offer more than $350. And most wanted to just give us $100. Kris was just about to contact the last offer of 350, when he got an email offering him $450. SOLD! But wait, there's more. We also had a Total Gym listed on Craigslist that was given to us (so we didn't pay for it). Kris had it listed for weeks on Craigslist, but no one seemed interested. Earlier in the day, someone came by and paid him $50 cash for the Total Gym, so we still ended up getting the $500 we needed.
I am loving this testimony we have to share about how faithful God is to those who walk with Him. I know that the road will not always be easy, but the longer I walk it, the more I'm convinced that even when it gets rough, it is so much better WITH Jesus than without. I wouldn't have it any other way!!! I love my Jesus!
